One day, when I was feeling a bit lazy thought of making Matar paneer and rice but as a one-pot dish. It turned out delicious! That is how Matar Paneer Pulao came into existence.

  • Basmati rice - 1 cup (200 grams)
  • Paneer - 200 grams
  • Peas - ½ cup
  • Ghee - 2-3 tbsp
  • Coriander - 2-3 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Ginger paste - 1 tsp
  • Salt - a little more than 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Large cardamom - 2
  • Cinnamon - ½ inch
  • Cloves - 3-4
  • Black pepper - 8-10
  • Lemon - 1

How to make paneer Matar Pulao

  • Wash the rice and keep it for half an hour to soak.  Cook the rice in the microwave, in a cooker, or in a similar vessel. Cut the paneer into ½ inch square pieces.  Put ghee in the pan and heat it; when the ghee is slightly hot, apply the pieces of cottage cheese to the pan and roast it on both sides till it turns light brown.  Grind the cloves, black pepper, cardamom seeds, and cinnamon and coarsely.

ADD

  • Cumin and ground masala to the remaining ghee in the pan and fry it lightly, now add ginger paste and fry a little.  Add the peas, roast all the ingredients with a spoon for 1 minute and then cover it for 1-2 minutes and cook it. Add roasted peas, boiled rice to the spices, fried paneer pieces, and salt and mix it well, add lemon juice too.
