  • 8 ounces of pasta (try to get bucatini, thick spaghetti, linguine, or fettuccine)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter which should be basically diced into a 1-table spoon of chunks
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly - cracked coarse black pepper
  • 2 ounces (about 1 cup) of freshly-grated pecorino or parmesan cheese.
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Coldwater

 

STEPS TO MAKE CACIO E PEPE AT HOME

 

  • Take a large pot, add pasta and water to it. Put this pot on the gas stove over a high flame. Also, add some salt to it.
  • Now cook the pasta according to the instructions given on the package.
  • Till the time pasta gets ready grate the cheese. Try to finely grate the cheese with help of your hands.
  • Now our pasta is prepared turn the gas off. Drain all the water from the pot but don’t throw it instead keep it in a container.
  • Now transfer the pasta to a pot. Keep this pot on the gas stove and heat it immediately on a high flame.
  • Then add some butter, starchy water (water is taken out from pasta), cheese, and black pepper.
  • Mix all the ingredients properly with help of a spoon.
  • After mixing add the diced butter, black pepper, 1 cup of the starchy pasta water, and mix all the ingredients properly so that they combine well.
  • Cook it properly, you can also add starchy pasta water if needed, till cheese gets melted properly and coats the pasta evenly.
  • Taste the dish before serving. Add some extra salt and pepper if needed according to your taste.
  • Now our delicious dish is prepared, take it out from the gas stove and serve in a serving plate garnished with some extra cheese over it.
