How To Make Asado | Asado Argentina Recipe at Home

Asado is nothing but just a simple technique and the social event of attending a barbecue in various South American countries. It is also cindered to be a traditional event too. Asado usually consists of beef, pork, chicken, chorizo, and morcilla which are basically cooked on a grill, called a parrilla, or an open fire. It is really delicious in taste and you will really enjoy eating it.

So today I am going to tell you about the recipe for Asado and I know that after reading the steps given below you will wonder how easy and convenient it is to make Asado at home. I am sure that following the steps given below this recipe will give you tasty Asado just like the market.


Ingredients used to make Asado

  • 12 to 15 dried chili pods, new Mexico chilies if you can get them
  • 6 - 8 cups of water (or enough to cover peppers)
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1 to 2 tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of Mexican oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 3 to 4 lb of pork roast, cut into 1 1/2-inch cube (leave some fat on for flavor)
  • 1 medium-size onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of Mexican oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 cup of canola oil
  • 1 cup of flour


  • Wash the chili pods and keep them in a large pot. Now fill it with water. Cover it with a lid and bring to a boil over medium flame for 20 minutes.


  • After 20 minutes remove from gas but do not discard the liquid.


  • With help of tongs, remove the chili pod from the pot, and blend them into a blender. Also, add the red chili sauce seasonings to it.


  • Season the meat (pork) with some garlic, salt, and pepper.


  • Take a zip lock bag, add the flour and the pork seasonings to it. Shake well so that it gets coated properly.


  • Now take a fry pan and heat 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil and brown the meat. Stir in between so that it doesn’t get the stick.
  • When the meat is browned properly then place it in a large pot and add the flour, chopped onion. Mix them well.


  • Now pour in the chili sauce prepared earlier and 1 cup of liquid. Reduce heat to medium or low flame, cover it with a lid and cook for one and a half hours.


  • Stir it properly and mix the sauce well with the meat.
