How To Make Dosa | Home made Dosa

Dosa is basically a rice pancake, which is originated from South India. Dosa is a very famous and delicious dish in south India. Not only in South India infect it is very popular in north India also due to its delicious taste. So here today we are going to learn a recipe about how to make a delicious and mouth-watering dosa.

You can surprise your family members by making this delicious dish. This is a really delicious recipe to satisfy your hunger as well as taste. After reading the steps below you will wonder how easy and convenient it is to make dosa at home. And I am sure that after following the steps given below you are not going to order dosa from outside instead you will prefer making it at your home, also it will more hygienic, affordable and healthy as compared to priced dosa as it is made by you.

Ingredients used to make Dosa are:-

  • Potatoes, tomatoes, onion, coriander, frozen peas, chopped greem chil and ginger, oil, water, salt, turmeric chili powder, urad dal, chana dal, heing, imli, butter.


  1. Put half glass of urad dal, one and a half glass of rice in a bowl, one fist chana dal with water for around 10 to 12 hours.
  2. After 10 to 12 hours take them out from the water and blend them with help of a blender.
  3. Add a pinch of salt so that batter ferments faster. Now cover it with a plate and let it get ferment for 4 to 5 hours.
  4. Till batter gets ferment, let’s start making masala for our dosa. Take fry pan add chana dal, seeds of dhaniya, garlic, cumin, methi, urad dal, and roast them for about 1 minute on low flame. Then add a small amount of heing, chili, salt, imli and mix all things well. After mixing well blend it in a blender.
How To Make Dosa
  1. Now our masala is also ready.
  2. Take another frying pan add some oil and 2 to 3 spoons of suji to it. Then add ten times of water to it and let it boil. Now keep it aside and let it dry. Now our upma is also ready.
Home made Dosa
  • Take tawa place it on gas after it gets hot spread some water on it. Now take the batter and spread it on Tawa with help of a big spoon. Then add some upma, masala powder (which we made in step 4), and butter.

  • Spread it all over on dosa. After spreading add some onion, coriander, chili, and tomatoes. Let it be cooked on low flame for 4 to 5 minutes.
Ready Dosa
  • Now fold it and pick it up from Tawa.
  • You can now serve it and your dosa is ready to eat.
